NO DIFFERENCE II- Floating
NO DIFFERENCE
BY GU ZHENQING
According to Avatamsaka Sutra, heart, Buddha and all living beings are three equal aspects without any difference. Firstly, equality of hearts means that all hearts and bodies are of the same mentality. Secondly, equality of Buddha means that Buddha from all directions shall be respected without bias. Thirdly, equality of living beings means that all living beings of nine worlds are equal.
In the 21st century, it seems that China has entered a magic era of homogeneity. There is no difference between positive energy and negative energy except that whether they are marked with Chinese characteristics. There is no difference between universal values and non-universal values except that whether they conform to China’s national conditions or not. There is no difference between males and females, except that which aspect of them is related to personality.
At present, homogeneity is a superficial phenomenon of the current society. It has nothing to do with equality and righteousness.
FLOATING
BY GU ZHENQING
It seems that “floating” is a kind of rootless and weightless status. Although the bodies of floating creatures in the sea are small and weak, they play an indispensable role in the whole natural food chain of marine ecology. The energy of these small creatures alters and influences all the other living beings of the environment with their strong penetration and micro actions. Similarly, such energy and ecological relationship also exist in the real social context. With the fast development of economy and knowledge explosion, as the people collectively lack enough self culture and psychological preparation, individuals’ senses of being are becoming more and more ambiguous, their values are indistinguishable, and they are unable to tell what their future will be. As a result, there are more and more uncertainties, randomness and disorderliness in the life of modern people. With the popularity of self-media and fragmented language style, this floating status is becoming increasingly apparent, especially among young people.
