SHIFTING IDENTITY AN EXHIBITION OF INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY ART
Gu Zhenqing
The “Identity” of us comes as an outcome of continuous gambling and compromise between subjectivity and objective world on varied value orientations. As the international arena is showing a prospect of multi-polarization, no single value system can boast itself as truly stable given the mutual promotion and restriction of cultural values and discourse power. The shift of identity undoubtedly reveals people’s different desires as well as the adaptation and modification to the game rules of reality. We are, for one reason, driven by this reality, thus being involved in the situation of an ever-wandering identity and changing paradigm. There exists another reason: we are unwilling to be submissive and slaved by the authoritative criteria, nor be alienated by the global culture of consumption.
