Angèle Etoundi Essamba was born in Douala,Cameroun.As a young girl, she went toFrancewhere she grew-up. Later on she moved to theNetherlandswhere she trained at the Nederlandse Fotovakschool. Etoundi Essamba gained international recognition with exhibitions all over the world. Her photographs were first displayed in 1985 at  Maison Descartes inAmsterdam. Exhibitions followed throughout the worldin Africa (Cameroon,South Africa,Mali,Senegal,Tanzania) Europe, (Spain,Italy,France,Germany,Belgium,Great Britain, The Netherlands,Denmark,Sweden,Switzerland,Portugal, ); The Middle East (Dubai); South America (Colombia,Brazil)Mexico,Cubaand theUnited States(New York,Philadelphia,Florida).
